The AcroDude Sessions

TheAcroDude has been traveling all over the US for the last two years, teaching all levels of the community how to be even more awesome in all the forms of the acrobatic practice. Always an athlete competing at the highest levels growing up, he brings a martial arts background and training mind state to the acro community.

SATURDAY 12pm-2:30pm Pop Shop will be covering what's important with popping, breaking it down pop by pop, cause what you do at the top is more important than not. Hahaha. Fundamentals and drills like always, for they are the stones on which this house of pops is built, and then we will move into the Pop Shop exploring some fun new pops that will have multiple additional levels to go to, so everyone will be challenged!

SATURDAY 4pm-6:30pm AcroDance is only the most fun thing ever in the whole world. If you're not a dancer, don't worry, this is AcroDance, acrobatics, so you don't need a dance background, just the desire to move. When you see someone dancing and you're like, "holy crap! What did they just do," that wow move, that's AcroDance. Acrobatic dance moves are applicable to all forms of dance and we have a ride range of styles covered, some are spinny, some flippy, some cartwheely, and all awesome and fun to do! Open to all skill levels and no partner is needed. So come out and AcroDance with us!

Sessions include 2 hours training with a half hour warmup to get the body ready and in tune with our partners.

The emphasis will be on calibrating these double-basing positions low first in order to take them high. Calibrations will also be done using trio pyramids and counter-balances with the base in an L-position, mid in star/throne, reverse star/reverse throne-position and flyer in bird, foot2foot, foot2hand, shoulder-stand, handstand and other similar positions both regular and reversed. Strong spotting & good alignment will be emphasized.

This workshop will teach communication, timing and finesse in small group dynamic acro scenarios using "pass the flyer" tricks dutch acro style where one flyer is transferred from one base to another using "tick-tock" techniques, simple tempos, double-pitching, double-swinging moves. It is recommended that participants also sign-up for Workshop Session 1 in order to arrive already pretty calibrated in a trio or quad grouping. We will combine trios and quad groups for epic fun and creative flows. Why just do acro with one partner when you can lift and fly on more than one! Treats and Balances With Kirk Angelo Blaker

11am - 2pm
Balancing Bodies Beautifully:
An exploration into the art of creative counterbalance

REGISTER HERE!

Counterbalancing the human body is one of the most fun and challenging activities that we can do together. It is the perfect place to practice sensitivity, communication, trust, self-expression, and get exercise while doing it.
Most basic postures are both challenging and accessible to everyone, while still leaving infinite room for experts to deepen and intensify them. This is always an exceptionally fun and rewarding workshop.

3:30-6:30pm
Time for a Treat(ment):
Therapeutic flight, partner stretches, massage techniques, and self-care.

We often neglect to give ourselves and our acroyoga partners the treat of therapuetic touch. Too often, we are caught up in the mindset that we need to 'do more' to enjoy ourselves.
Here we'll experience the profound joy that can come through simply being present and caring for the others in our lives.

$35 each session or $60 for both
ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME
NO PARTNER NECESSARY

Kirk Angelo Blaker has over 13 years experience teaching Yoga; university degrees in Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, and Sociology; in addition to a wealth of experience accumulated over a lifetime of traveling internationally to study with masters in their fields, including 5 months of intensive training in Yoga and a clinical internship in Ayurvedic Medicine in Rishikesh, India. Any class with Kirk is sure to be a unique, safe, fun, learning experience.
